Why Do We Take Antibiotics?

Antibiotics are chemicals which, when put into the body, kill or prevent the growth of germs. They help our bodies to fight diseases. Modern antibiotics are made from microbes which are tiny living things.

For example, bacteria mould, the ones used in making antibiotics have the ability to produce chemicals that can fight diseases. Antibiotics are thus very effective in curing disease.

Some antibiotics kill germs while, others may only weaken them and allow the body’s natural defenses to work.
